People living in poverty and extreme poverty in Latin America 1990-2022
Overall, both the number of people living in poverty and extreme poverty in Latin America has increased since 2015, reaching 201 and 82 million persons in 2022, respectively. The recent setback experienced in the region partially reverted the improvements witnessed during the early 2000s. Furthermore, indigenous people in Latin America continue to experience extremely high poverty rates.
