Number of large wildfire disasters in Australia 1980-2021
In 2021, there was one large wildfire disaster recorded in Australia. By comparison, there were no large disasters recorded in the previous year, and two in 2019. In the period of consideration, 2006 and 2015 saw the most large wildfire disasters, with three recorded in each year. In 2021, there were 19 large wildfire disasters worldwide. Other types of climate-related disasters include droughts, extreme temperatures, landslides, storms, and floods.
