Net foreign electricity trade balance in Italy 2018-2022

In 2022, Italy's net foreign exchange of electricity amounted to approximately 43 terawatt-hours. That included 47.4 terawatt-hours of electricity imported from other countries, and 4.4 terawatt-hours exported to other countries.
Over the past few years, electricity imports to Italy always exceeded the electricity exports from this country. However, imported electricity was only a small fraction of the overall electricity demand in Italy, which amounted to 317 terawatt-hours in 2021.
