This statistic shows the percentage of teenagers in the United States who have experienced cyber bullying as of April 2018, sorted by gender. During the survey, it was found that 60 percent of teenage girls in the United States had experienced some form of cyber bullying, the most common type being offensive name-calling. More girls than boys had experienced the spreading of false rumors online.

The source measured cyber bullying by asking respondents if they had ever experienced any of six online behaviors. Respondents who selected yes to one or more of these questions are considered to be targets of cyber bullying in this study. Throughout the report the terms “cyber bullying” and “online harassment” are used interchangeably.
