Mexican-inspired restaurant chain Taco Bell’s average sales per unit reached approximately 1.6 million U.S. dollars in 2020, up from 1.5 million the previous year.
Taco Bell and its sister companies
Taco Bell is a subsidiary of YUM! Brands which is also parent company to Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Pizza Hut. In a 2019 ranking of the leading quick-service restaurants in the United States by sales per unit, Taco Bell ranked way above its sister companies. That being said it did not reach the top spot - first in the ranking was chicken chain Chick-fil-A with average sales per unit of 4.5 million U.S. dollars.
Taco Bell vs. KFC
Taco Bell operated a total of 7,427 restaurants in 27 countries worldwide in 2020. However, with more than 25 thousand units worldwide, KFC is the largest restaurant chain in the YUM! Brands portfolio. Despite the large discrepancy in numbers of units, Taco Bell is only slightly less successful than its sister company in terms of revenue, generating approximately 2.03 billion U.S. dollars revenue in 2020. Comparatively, the revenue of KFC amounted to around 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in that year.
