Movie theater ticket price in Germany 2002-2022

Average movie theater ticket prices in Germany have only been going up in the last decade, now exceeding nine euros for the first time. Movie theater visits per person have been decreasing in recent years. The coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 hit the cinema industry very hard.

When faced with the option of buying an increasingly expensive movie ticket or perhaps waiting a few months before the film is available to stream online from the comfort of home, there’s a possibility that a viewer will choose the latter.
