Asia Pacific is the greatest consumer of oil and oil products in the world. In 2022, the region accounted for around 36 percent of total oil demand worldwide. This was up from 31.5 percent in 2010 and largely buoyed by greater Chinese oil consumption. Oil consumption in Central and South America, as well as in Europe, experienced a decline in the same time period.
