The most common purpose for businesses to use checks in the United Kingdom (UK) throughout the period from 2014 to 2018 was to pay a trade supplier, but in 2019 the most common purpose was for other ad-hoc payments to businesses. Other purposes include various examples, such as payment to a trade supplier, regular business commitment, and refunds to customers. 49 percent of businesses used checks to pay a supplier in 2019, which was lower than the 63 percent in 2018.
