Leading headphones & earphones in the UK 2013-2017, by number of users

Brands of headphones and earphones ranked by number of users in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2013 to 2017 (in 1,000s)

Leading headphones & earphones in the UK 2013-2017, by number of users This statistic depicts the ranking of the most used brands of headphones and earphones in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, an estimated 3.9 million people used Apple headphones and earphones. Sony and Sennheiser were ranked second and third respectively. Of these products, in-ear devices were the most popular, with an estimated 14.5 million of these devices in use in the United Kingdom during 2017.

Although Apple and Beats are listed separately for the purposes of this statistic, Apple's acquisition of Beats in 2014 means that the combined sales of Apple and its subsidiary amount to more than the number of units sold by Sony. The acquisition of Beats has given the company a particularly strong hold in many parts of the global market, such as the wireless headphone market in the United States. In December 2016, sales linked to Apple made up 49 percent of all dollar sales, and 27 percent of all unit sales.

In 2017, 368 million headphones and headsets were sold worldwide. 143.91 million of those units were sold in the United States.
