Rate of business discontinuance in Europe, by country 2022
In 2022, the country in Europe with the highest rate of business discontinuance, that is, the shutting down of a pre-existing business enterprise, was the Netherlands, with 5.6% of companies in that country discontinuing their activities in 2022. According to data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor's 2022/23 report, Slovakia, Germany, and Luxembourg were the next three European countries with the greatest share of business discontinuances, while Norway, Romania, and Hungary had the fewest in the continent for 2022.
