This statistic shows the volume of fresh fruits imported into the United Kingdom (UK) in 2015 from key trading partners, by country of origin. In 2015, fresh fruit imports from Spain were measured at 594 thousand tonnes, followed by South Africa at 327 thousand tonnes. Trends in the import volume of fresh fruit have seen little change in recent years, while the value of such imports has increased. Consumer spending on fruit has also increased, although not significantly so when based on the volume of household purchases. Mid-ranged age groups are the most likely to purchase fresh fruit, likely due to their having families and children, whereas average purchases per person per week of fresh and processed fruit and vegetables have decreased in volume.
