Over 400 million passengers boarded the listed U.S. airlines in 2018, with the majority of enplaned passengers riding with Southwest Airlines, which had over 159 million enplanements in 2018.

Southwest Airlines: additional information

Southwest Airlines was the airline with the most enplanements each year since 2011, with Delta Air Lines consistently coming in second. In 2019, Southwest Airlines had a customer satisfaction index score (statistic 422062) above the average for American airline companies. The number of passengers using each of these airlines increased over the years, potentially indicating an overall increase in passenger air transportation.

The regions with the highest estimated annual growth rates are Africa, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific. These regions include the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), five major emerging national economies with expanding air transportation industries.
