Leading DIY retailers in Norway 2010-2015, by retail space This statistic shows a ranking of retailers of so-called ‘do-it-yourself’ (DIY) goods based on retail space in Norway from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, Byggmax had roughly 240,000 square meters of retail space in Norway. This retailer was the market leader in available retail space for selling DIY supplies in Norway in 2015. Even though Maxbo did record a fluctuation in the past five years with growth as well as loss of retail space, it ranked second, with 165,750 square meters in 2015. In that year, Byggmakker, which is owned by Rautakesko, was the third biggest DIY retailer in Norway based on retail space. This retailer shows a strong decline in size. Whereas it had roughly 184,800 square meters of retail space in 2010, Byggmakker shrank down to 145,000 square meters in 2015.
Jernia, which is the leading DIY retailer in Norway based on the number of stores, had an equal development as Byggmakker. This retailer, which has 150 stores in Norway, recorded a slight decrease in size over this five year period. It had retail space of 101,805 square meters in 2010, but 92,570 square meters in 2015.
