This statistic shows the number of DIY retail stores in Denmark from 2003 to 2015. In 2015, there were 463 retail stores providing so-called ‘do-it-yourself’ (DIY) goods in Denmark. Compared to the previous year, this was a great leap forward as the Danish DIY market counted 367 stores in 2014.
There was a constant growth in the number of Danish DIY retail stores in the past 13 years. Whereas the number was 283 stores in 2003, the number increased until 2007, reaching a total of 341 stores. In the following years, the market fluctuated and the store number raise and fell. After 2010, the Danish DIY retail market recovered again and increased the number of stores ever since.

The leading DIY retailers in Denmark, based on the number of stores, are XL-Byg and Jem & Fix. Another central role is taken up by Stark, which showed a similar stable development in its number of stores as XL-Byg. Latter retailer had 116 stores and Jem & Fix was present on the market with 105 stores. Both retailers had no significant increase or decrease in their store number, whereas Jem & Fix had a constant growth with 77 stores in 2010 and 105 stores in 2015.
