Current developments
In an effort to reduce misinformation and online falsehoods, the government has been working with Facebook and Twitter since 2019. Academics, journalists and civil society groups have taken to the platform to discuss political, social and cultural issues while some others have used it to spread hate speech. For instance, on April 2020, police reports were made against a user that published racially insensitive tweets regarding migrant workers.
