
Causes of cost overruns among IT projects 2012
The statistic shows the leading groups of issues that cause cost overruns among information technology (IT) projects with budgets of more than 15 million U.S. dollars, by type, according to a study conducted by McKinsey and the University of Oxford. As of June 2012, missing focus, such as unclear objectives or a lack of business focus, was to blame in 13 percent of IT projects with budgets of more than 15 million U.S. dollars that overran their costs.
