Average age of the population in Italy 2021, by macro-region

In 2021, the youngest population lived in the South of Italy. Indeed, the average age in the Southern regions stood at 44.7 years. On the contrary, the population in the North-West and in the Center was the oldest nationwide. Regional data on births show that the southern regions record the highest birth rates in the country.
