Birth rate in Italy 2018, by macro-region

In 2018, the birth rate stood at 7.6 births per 1,000 inhabitants in South Italy, the macro-region with the largest rate nationwide. The Center recorded a birth rate of 6.9, the lowest value displayed in the chart.
The birth rate in the whole country has constantly decreased over the past years – in 2018 roughly 7.3 children were born per 1,000 inhabitants, about two infants less than in 2002.
