Birth rate in Italy 2019, by macro-region

In 2019, the birth rate was estimated to stand at 7.5 births per 1,000 inhabitants in South Italy, the macro-region with the largest rate nationwide. The Center recorded a birth rate of 6.9, the lowest value displayed in the chart.
The birth rate in the whole country has constantly decreased over the past years – in 2019 roughly 7.2 children were born per 1,000 inhabitants, about two infants less than in 2002.
