Supplementary notes
The average healthcare costs per person are costs paid for by health insurance companies under the Dutch Health Care Insurance Act (Zvw). It is a mandatory health insurance for Dutch residents.

Included in hospital costs are specialised help in a hospital or independent treatment centre. The average is calculated by dividing the total costs by the amount of people who can get the healthcare, whether or not they actually received it.
