
Eye exams in the elderly covered by the social system in EU countries 2017
This statistic displays the proportion of social systems in European countries that pay for eye exams in the elderly aged over 50 years old in 2017. The social systems in over 42 percent of EU countries, i.e. 12 out of 28 countries, pay for eye exams in the elderly. In ten European countries (or 35.7 percent), the social systems partly pay for the cost of eye exams. The definition of 'elderly' varies from country to country with many countries reserving that term for individuals aged over 70 years.
