Between 1918 and 2019, there have been 28 elections in the United Kingdom, resulting in 13 Conservative governments, 11 Labour governments, and four national or coalition governments. The Conservative Party won the most seats in the 1931 general elections at 522, by comparison, the Labour Party won 418 seats in the 1997 general elections, their largest number to date.
