Italy: average age of women at marriage 1950s-2017 Over the last half century, the average age of Italian women walking down the aisle increased by roughly five years. In the 1970s, the Italian bride got married with her other half at the age of 25, whereas in 2017 the average age of women at marriage was of about 30.7 years.
Different age at marriage in different regions

The average age of the spouses at marriage varies from region to region. In 2017, the region which registered the youngest brides and grooms was Sicily. Sicilian women tied the knot at the age of 30.7 years, whereas the value for men reached 33.6 years.

Marriage in Italy

In 2017, Italy registered about 191 thousand marriages, 26 thousand weddings less in comparison with the figures from seven years before. Overall, the marriage rate recorded in 2017 was one of the lowest values in the period considered.
