Life insurance premiums to population ratio in Portugal 2005-2016 This statistic shows the life insurance density in Portugal from 2005 to 2016, measured as a life insurance premiums to population ratio (in euros). In 2016, the density reached a level of approximately 620 euros, indicating every Portuguese citizen paid a premium of approximately 620 euros for his or her life insurance. This is a decrease from the 982 euros reached in 2014. Since 2011, several assets of Portuguese insurers were privatized after the country requested an international bailout of 78 billion euros in 2011.
