Usage e-money Japan 2017, by type The statistics depicts the results of a survey conducted in November 2017 about the usage rate of electronic money in Japan, broken down by major e-money service. The survey revealed that with almost 30 percent of respondents the most used e-money service was the contactless smart card Suica. The Suica card is a rechargeable fare card on train lines in Japan, but is now increasingly used as a form of electronic money.
