Leading asset managers in Belgium 2017, by worldwide AuM Who are the biggest asset managers in Belgium? Candriam Investors Group leads the ranking of Belgian asset managers in 2017, based on its worldwide assets under management (AUM). The pan-European company, which specializes in fixed income and equities, had around 112,000 million U.S. worth of assets. The ranking consists of only several entries as Belgium had far less asset management companies than, for example, Luxembourg or the Netherlands.
Total AUM increasing

The market for professionally managed assets in Belgium is not as large in the United Kingdom, France or Germany. More retail and institutional investors made use of an asset manager in Belgium, however: in 2016 Belgian asset managers were responsible for 301 billion euros worth of assets, the highest value since 2010.

Private banking centers around the “big banks”

Of all asset managers in Belgium, private banks made up the largest share. Most AUM can be found in the private banking divisions of the four largest banks in Belgium. This is probably due to the relatively low bar set for clients: investable assets of 250,000 euros or more is enough to participate.
