Europe: Number of companies receiving venture capital 2017

This statistic illustrates the total number of companies that received venture capital investment in Europe from 2013 to 2017, by investment stage. During this five year period, it can be seen that the majority of companies received funding during the start-up stage. In 2017, nearly 2.2 thousand companies received funding from venture capital during the start-up stage, compared to 671 companies that received funding during the later stage.

Later-stage financing as 'financing provided for an operating company, which may or may not be profitable.'
