Annual change in life expectancy at birth in the United Kingdom (UK) 1981-2018

Between 2016 and 2018 the annual change in life expectancy at birth increased by just over 4 weeks for women and just over three and a half weeks for men. During this provided time-period the highest annual change in life expectancy occurred during 2009-2011, when it was around 20 weeks for men and 18 weeks for women. In more recent years there has been a decrease in annual improvements in life expectancy, declining by half a week for women in between 2015 and 2017 and only improving by half a week for men.
