Christmas gifts' budget in Japan 2019

The majority of Japanese surveyed in 2019 were planning on spending between 1,000 to 2,000 Japanese yen on Christmas presents, while under five percent had a budget of over 50 thousand yen.
In contrast to Western traditions, Christmas in Japan is often celebrated with friends or in private between romantic partners, similar to New Year's Eve in North American or European countries. Rather a time to socialize and attend parties, Japanese Christmas celebrations have little to do with family gatherings or religious traditions.
