Between April 2021 and March 2022, the revenue generated by the whole self-medication segment in pharmacies in Italy increased by 11.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the data provided by New Line Ricerche di Mercato, the fastest growing category in this segment was the one of self-medication products to treat minor problems of the respiratory system, which recorded an impressive annual growth rate of approximately 38.4 percent.
