Opinion on the Turin-Lyon railway construction in Italy 2019, by macro-region
In 2019, a survey was conducted in Italy on the controversial construction of the Turin-Lyon high-speed railway. This EU-funded project revolves around a high-speed line connecting France and Italy and spanning 270 km. For over a decade, the construction plans have been facing considerable opposition from the No TAV movement in Italy. The share of the population in favor of the construction project differed significantly depending on the region: while about 80 percent of respondents in the North of Italy were in favor, fewer than half of respondents in the Islands supported the project.
