In 2019, eleven people were murdered per 100,000 inhabitants in Costa Rica, down from a homicide rate of 11.7 a year earlier. The homicide rate in Costa Rica has been fairly stable in the past five years, with the numbers varying between 9.5 and 12.1 per 100,000 inhabitants.
