Number of CEPI paper and pulp industry employees in Europe 1991-2021
In 2021, there were 179,270 people employed in the European pulp and paper industry. Employee numbers have remained stable in recent years, but have fallen considerably over the past three decades. CEPI countries account for roughly 91 percent of European pulp and paper production (excluding Russia).
