The report takes a look at the combination of news apps and mobile notifications as a channel for (re)building direct relationships with users. It examines such questions as - How do consumers feel about the rising tide of alerts on their smartphones? Are they engaged or annoyed? What makes a good or bad alert? How important is news as a notifcation category and how might these alerts develop in the years ahead? Results are based on a survey of smartphone users carried out in September and October 2016 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Taiwan.
