This statistic shows the number of West Nile virus (WNV) cases in horses from 2003 to 2018. According to the data, there were 5,181 cases of WNV in horses in 2003. That number decreased to 377 cases in 2018. WNV is a mosquito transmitted infection that exists in wild bird populations. It is transmitted to many animals including horses and humans and can cause severe long-lasting neurological complications.
