Brazil: mobile phones stolen in Rio de Janeiro by type 2010-2018

In 2018, more than 42 thousand mobile phones were stolen in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. The number of mobile phones that were robbed by use of force or threat has been continuously increasing since 2012, year in which 4.36 thousand phones were reportedly robbed in this state, reaching a historical record in 2018 with over 26.5 mobile phones stolen in that way. The number of petty thefts, which are defined by the lack of use of force, decreased between 2015 and 2017.
