Americans between the ages of 18 and 27 years seem to prefer liquor and spirits to any other type of alcoholic beverage. In 2019, a survey of consumers in the United States found that 53.3 percent of younger Millennials prefer to drink liquor over beer or wine. On the other hand, members of the Silent Generation overwhelmingly favor wine, at 58.8 percent.
