Total prison personnel in Russia 2004-2017, by gender

Since 2010, the male personnel in Russian prisons decreased by nearly 52 thousand employees. In total, over 158 thousand men in the country worked as prison staff in 2017. Among females, the number of staff in penal and correctional institutions also followed a negative trend, measuring at 101 thousand personnel in the latest year observed.
