Out of nearly 23.9 thousand environmental crimes registered in Russia in 2018, the overwhelming majority were related to the illegal cutting of forest plantations, amounting approximately to13.8 thousand cases. The second most common type of ecological crime in the country was illegal hunting, with over 1.9 thousand such cases observed.
