U.S. trust in government by political ideology 1972-2023
The share of people in the United States who trust in the government has been steadily decreasing for both Democrats and Republicans, but was lowest amongst conservative Republicans, with only four percent of those surveyed in June 2023 stating they trust their government always or most of the time. This figure stood at 66 percent in 1972.
