The Nintendo Switch is a video game console that was first released in March 2017. In its first year, the hybrid handheld and stationary console sold 13.12 million units worldwide. Sales continued to increase in the following years, with Nintendo achieving record sales of its console in 2020. By the end of 2020, the Nintendo Switch had sold over 76 million units across its lifetime, surpassing its close rival, Microsoft's Xbox One. In 2023, there were around 16.4 million units of Nintendo Switch sold worldwide.
