As a result of a magnitude 6.2 earthquake that occurred on May 31, 2019 in Davao Oriental, a PEIS intensity level of five was reported in the areas of Governor Generoso and Mati City in the Philippines. The intensity scale was based on the PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale, a seismic scale that measures the effect of an earthquake on a given area based on its relative effect to people, structures and objects in the surroundings. An intensity scale of five corresponds to a strong effect, with earthquake generally felt by most people indoors and outdoors.
