In Mexico, production of tobacco takes place mainly in the coastal states of Nayarit, Veracruz, and Chiapas. In 2018, production of tobacco in the country amounted to more than 15 thousand metric tons. Nayarit was the state with the largest production, close to 13.5 thousand tons, followed by Veracruz with 1.3 thousand tons.
