In 2019, India noted six instances of internet shutdowns that lasted over three days. In fact, the south Asian country created history by imposing the longest running internet shutdown across the globe at over 197 days. The complete internet blackout in Jammu and Kashmir in India was imposed on August 4, 2019 and was only partially lifted in certain parts of the region on December 27, 2019.
