Piracy as motive for cyber crimes India 2021, by leading state

In 2021, the southern state of Tamil Nadu in India had the highest number of cyber crimes related to piracy, with 23 cases registered with the authorities. The country recorded 74 cases of cyber crime offences that were committed with the intent of selling or transmitting pirated content that year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
