Viscose is commonly used in clothing and apparel products, but cannot be said to be the most environmentally-friendly of fibers, since a lot of toxic chemicals go into the production of viscose. Research looking into the proportion of viscose used in popular fashion brands' products showed that the British retailer Marks & Spencer and the Spanish fashion brand Desigual used about 14 percent of viscose in their clothing products. Another fast fashion brand from the UK, New Look had 11 percent of viscose fiber used in their apparel products.
