Percentage change in industrial production in Italy 2020-2021
Between January 2020 and October 2021, the industrial production in Italy experienced a significant decrease due to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19). In particular, in April 2020, the industrial production dropped by 44.3 percent compared to the previous year, whereas from June on, the industrial production increased.
During the last week of February 2020, the number of coronavirus cases in Italy started rising significantly. As a consequence to the rising number of cases, on March 9, the Italian government announced that the country is in lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
