South Korea: monthly business survey index 2023

As of May 2023, the business survey index (BSI) among 600 leading companies in South Korea stood at 92.7 points. Since February 2022, the BSI points have remained below 100 points, indicating the underperformance of South Korean companies during the period.
In April 2020, the BSI index once dropped to 58.8 points during the first wave of COVID-19 infections after which it started to recover. The coronavirus (COVID-19) adversely affected the South Korean economy, which, however, quickly recovered as early as 2021.

Business Survey Index (BSI) is a business indicator indexed by observing companies' judgments, forecasts, and plans for economic trends. By using a three-point scale of positive, normal, and negative, the formula is based on the difference between the number of positive and negative respondents.
