Despite of the effects of the COVID-19 coronavirus, global chemical production increased by 2.7 percent in August 2020. In January 2020, chemical production increased in some categories, as compared to December 2019. However, in February compared to January and in March compared to February, chemical production declined in every category. By May compared to April and June compared to May, production finally increased in many categories, though some remained negative. Coatings production increased by the largest margin during August compared to July, at 3.5 percent.
