Amid the global COVID-19 crisis, chemical companies have planned to ramp up or to start entirely new plants in order to produce in-demand products such as hand sanitizer and disinfectant, as is the case with BASF and Huntsman. This can be seen in many countries, with new hand sanitizer producing plants starting up in Germany, Switzerland, the United States, and Australia in April 2020. Meanwhile, the chemicals industry's myriad products are also represented in other new industry projects.
