Panama: monthly international travelers traffic 2019-2020

In April 2020, international passenger traffic from and to Panama amounted to approximately 6.1 thousand travelers. This represented a decrease of around 98.8 percent in comparison with the passenger traffic reported during the same a month a year earlier. This abrupt decrease in international passenger traffic is due to restrictions imposed by the Panamanian government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in its territory. The travel restrictions started with the suspension of international flights from and to some European countries on March 13 2020, same day that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.
